OGA's 2024 Virtual Annual Conference
Register here for "EngAGEment: Enhancing Connections as We Age"
Social engagement is critical for individual and population health across the lifespan, but is especially important in later life. Older adults who are socially disconnected face greater risks for both physical and mental health challenges. The epidemic of social isolation and loneliness is also a priority concern raised by the U.S. Surgeon General and is currently recognized as an urgent public health crisis.
This year’s annual virtual conference will feature four weekly, morning sessions with distinguished national, state, and local experts who will illuminate how and why social connection affects health and well-being for older adults. Through insightful presentations, attendees will also gain an understanding of how every sector can contribute to fostering a culture of inclusivity and stronger connections for an aging society. Practical strategies for addressing social isolation and loneliness will be offered, encouraging proactive measures to enhance social well-being across diverse populations and various systems – at the individual, interpersonal, institutional, community, and policy levels.
Issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion will be woven throughout the program, with an emphasis on strengths-based and resilient approaches to aging. Each session will also include actionable suggestions and best practices from exemplary programs and policies.
Each session will also feature multiple experts in the field of aging and include 2 hours of content.
