How to start Innovative Cohousing Communities

The Oregon Gerontological Association is happy to announce its sponsorship of an upcoming event addressing the topic of staring cohousing communities. The event will feature Charles “Chuck” Durrett, an award-winning architect and author of Senior Cohousing Handbook: A Community Approach to Independent Living. Mr Durrett is responsible for introducing the concept of cohousing to the U.S. from its success in Denmark through the text he co-authored, along with his wife Kathryn McCamant.

Cohousing offers new architectural and social models of housing designed for families seeking a balance of independence and sociability, community and privacy. Mr. Durrett has designed over fifty cohousing communities in North America and has consulted on many more around the world.
